These daily percents are estimates for learning and curiosity. They are not an observatory ephemeris, and they are not a guide for navigation.
How this is calculated
The calendar evaluates the same elongation model once per civil day, at local noon. A day is marked full or new when the exact instant of that phase, in this model, falls on that local date. The UTC date of the instant can differ by one day when the clock sits near midnight.
Questions
Whose noon is “local noon”?
Local noon uses the time zone you pick from the list, such as New York (Eastern). The page does not look up a city and does not use your IP.
Why can the full-moon highlight differ from UTC?
If the instant of full moon sits near midnight, your local date and the UTC date can disagree by one day. The next-full-moon tool prints both clocks.
Why are there no little moon pictures in every cell?
Thirty small icons are hard to read on a phone. The percent is the figure. Full and new are written in words.
Does this calendar include holidays or astrology?
No. The grid is illumination and phase names only.
Can I open a year far outside 1900–2100?
No. The previous and next buttons stop at the ends of that range.
